This is taken from "Gone Too Soon: The Life and Loss of Infants and Unborn Children" and the author quoted it from Dr. and Mrs. J. C. Willke.
Upon fertilization, when the ovum and the sperm unite, a single cell emerges. Now, a lone cell may not sound particularly interesting, but take into account its unique properties:
*The cell is now either male or female
*The genetic coding responsible for the color of the hair, eyes, skin, facial features, body type, and certain qualities of personality and intelligence have already been determined.
*The cell is complete. Nothing but nutrition and oxygen will be added from this time forth.
*The new being is programmed from within. It moves forward in a self-controlled, ongoing process of growth.
*This being is responsible for its own growth, development, and replacement of dying cells.
*This cell has never before existed in the history of the world, and never will another individual exactly like it exist.
*It is this cell that continues to grow and create the changes in its mother's body to prepare for the pregnancy and eventual delivery. This baby will even determine its own birthday.
